Nicol Michelle Joy, PhD

Doctoral Candidate and Trainee in Clinical Psychology

Nicol brings a warm, relational, and trauma-informed approach to her work. She supports clients in exploring how past experiences shape their present lives while developing ways to respond with greater awareness and self-compassion. Her approach draws on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), narrative therapy, somatic awareness, and transpersonal psychotherapy, guided by each client’s needs and preferences. She welcomes exploration of meaning, identity, and
spirituality while honoring each person’s beliefs. Nicol is also a certified Life Coach.

Her professional experience spans Higher Education, nonprofit leadership, healthcare administration, and holistic wellness communities. Nicol earned a Ph.D. in Literature & Critical Thinking from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with her dissertation focusing on holistic healing from complex trauma. Currently she is pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at Meridian University and is a trainee with Behavioral Wellness Group.

Nicol views therapy as a collaborative relationship grounded in dignity, curiosity, and care. She values each client’s inner knowing and capacity to move towards a more connected and fulfilling life. She is currently accepting new clients.
