Dr. Jamelah Chatmon-Lester, Psy.D

Dr. Jamelah Chatmon, Psy.D. is a Postdoctoral Psychology Fellow who believes that meaningful healing begins with understanding—not judgment. She views therapy as more than symptom reduction; it is an opportunity to better understand yourself, make sense of your experiences, and build a life that feels authentic, purposeful, and aligned with your values.

Her clinical approach is integrative and trauma-informed, drawing from evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy, existential therapy, and family systems concepts. Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, Dr. Chatmon tailors treatment to each client's unique experiences, strengths, and goals, recognizing that healing looks different for everyone.

Dr. Chatmon works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of emotional and behavioral concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder, ADHD, behavioral challenges, relationship concerns, identity exploration, and life transitions. She also has a special interest in supporting individuals navigating the emotional impact of racialized experiences, religious trauma, and other experiences that shape identity, belonging, and overall well-being. She has a particular passion for working with young adults and members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Dr. Chatmon believes therapy is not about fixing people—it is about helping them understand themselves with greater clarity, compassion, and courage. She strives to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel genuinely seen, respected, and empowered to explore difficult emotions, recognize longstanding patterns, strengthen relationships, and develop practical tools that foster lasting growth.

Whether you are seeking support during a difficult season, healing from past experiences, or simply looking to understand yourself more deeply, Dr. Chatmon is committed to building a collaborative therapeutic relationship where curiosity replaces judgment, insight leads to growth, and meaningful change becomes possible.
