We examine all aspects that contribute to effective behavioral health. We treat individuals, couples, families and groups. There are several different types of therapy, and every therapist approaches it in his or her own unique manner. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) helps people to identify behaviors and thought patterns that are self-destructive as well as the triggers that lead to such thoughts. With a focus on cognitive regulation, this treatment provides them with tools to change these behaviors and thoughts. The patient and therapist explore patterns that lead to certain behaviors and in doing so, develop ways to modify their actions. While it is similar to CBT, DBT also includes elements of distress tolerance, acceptance, and mindful awareness.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is generally a short term treatment that focuses on a specific problem. The patient learns to understand the influence that certain negative thoughts and feelings have on their actions. They are then taught how to monitor and control these thoughts to productively handle them on their own. CBT is used to treat a wide range of disorders including anxiety, depression, phobias, addiction and others.
Addiction Treatment (Individual and Group)
Through addiction counseling, we help clients face the challenges of substance abuse and the self-destructive behaviors that may accompany it. We work to get to the root of what caused the dependence and develop strategies for overcoming the original pain. Ongoing counseling helps the client address the symptoms of drug addiction as well as the damage it has done to their lives. We help them to develop the necessary mental skills and inner strength that lead to lifelong recovery. Along with treatment, substance abuse evaluations are provided as needed by a licensed chemical dependency counselor.
