Dr. Kayla Kovach, Ph.D.

Kayla Kovach, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Psychology and currently supervised by Dr. John Glovan, Psy.D. Her clinical practice includes individual and group therapy, working with children and adults.

Kayla has a passion and is specializing in sport and performance psychology, supporting individuals in optimizing performance, resilience, and mental well-being across athletic, academic, and high-pressure life contexts. She also supports clients navigating injuries, recovery, and return-to-play. She utilizes a strengths-based, collaborative framework, helping clients enhance motivation, focus, emotional regulation, and confidence while navigating both performance demands and personal challenges.

She has experience treating depression, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, women’s issues, and major life transitions. Kayla uses an integrative treatment approach drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Positive Psychology, and Motivational Interviewing (MI). These allow her to use a holistic perspective and tailor treatment to each client’s goals, readiness for change, and promote self-empowerment.

Kayla earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Walsh University and her master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Xavier University. She completed her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Health Psychology from Walden University. She has worked in a variety of mental health settings since 2013.
