Stephanie Jacobs, LPC

Putting the pieces of your life together can feel like trying to do a puzzle without the picture on the box—frustrating, overwhelming, and, let’s be honest, not very fun when you're doing it alone. That’s where I come in.

I specialize in walking alongside people navigating life transitions, anxiety, depression, divorce, infertility/fertility challenges, stress, anger management, relationship issues, codependency/attachment issues, and faith-related concerns. I also run an in-person Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) for adults who need extra support through group therapy. And for couples looking to start their marriage on solid ground, I offer premarital counseling using Save Your Marriage Before It Starts—because thriving in love takes more than just good intentions.

In therapy, we’ll identify what matters most to you, set realistic goals, and build emotional tools that actually work. Whether you're managing current stressors or digging into deeper patterns from the past, we’ll move at your pace. I work with teens (15+) and adults, and tailor each session to your unique needs.

My approach is holistic, practical, and personal. We’ll look at all areas of your life to find what’s really driving your distress—and we’ll create solutions that feel like they fit. You’ll get my signature mix of no-nonsense Jersey energy, genuine compassion, and the occasional dose of humor (because therapy doesn’t always have to be heavy to be helpful).

Let’s figure this out—together.

(Stephanie Jacobs, In Person Adult IOP, South Carolina) “Successful at creating an environment where everyone in group felt comfortable sharing and engaging with others. Recognizing all participants' situations and struggles are as important as the participant sitting next to you. The time I spent with Stephanie and my group members was invaluable to me. The rolling enrollment meant that new clients started, while others were advancing through the program and graduating. Hearing different perspectives, challenges, thoughts, feelings and successes in my classmates' journeys has made a huge impact on my understanding of myself and my emotions/feelings. I am so thankful for the support I received in this program, and I feel like I gained many important new tools to cope and manage my daily life in healthy new ways.”

(Stephanie Jacobs, In Person Adult IOP, South Carolina) “Creating an environment where I felt safe and comfortable expressing myself. I liked how each session started off with a check-in and ended with mindfulness; it allowed me to get anything off my back before starting the session and gave me people to talk to about my issues without feeling like a burden or attention seeking. After having some long and intense conversations, the mindfulness was the perfect way to end the session. I also like having the binder to look back at and found the worksheets and homework very helpful and straightforward. I think the entire program was great, I loved the structure and how you went about teaching everything. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in IOP, and I am very glad that I did it.”

(Stephanie Jacobs, In Person Adult IOP, South Carolina) “Provided compassionate, professional care and made space for difficult conversations. The safe space was crucial to my treatment success. Thank you for providing this much-needed program to patients in our area!”

(Stephanie Jacobs, In Person Adult IOP, South Carolina) “Having attended group therapy in the past, I knew that this would be more beneficial to me than one-on-one therapy. I wasn’t sure I would like the “lessons” of each session, but I found the program worthwhile and useful. Stephanie Jacobs is a group leader who kept us motivated to speak. She remembers what each of us has said in the past and refers back to those issues. Eventually, we all felt comfortable opening up...As we went through the strategies and coping skills, we all opened up, and that’s the best thing about group therapy. The homework encouraged us to practice the skills presented during that day’s session, but sometimes the assignments instructed us to practice them over several days when we had only one. However, those strategies and skills are easy to assimilate if one practices them religiously, and they become part of their lives, automatic. I would highly recommend that they undertake the IOP put out by The Behavioral Wellness Group, even if they have a one-on-one therapist. You can rely on them both or just try this IOP program. I can see a difference in my behavior. I don’t cry and isolate myself all the time. I don’t sleep all day to avoid life. Hearing others’ struggles helps you understand your own, and you can help them as they help you...I am so happy that I found this type of group therapy in my area!”

(Stephanie Jacobs, In Person Adult IOP, South Carolina) "Making me feel like my issues were cared about and respected. Also, the DBT paperwork and program is very easy to follow along and learn from. Stephanie is so wonderful at leading the program! She really makes you feel cared for and that your needs are met and respected in a professional way. Group therapy really helped me find myself again. While a lot of it was internal work, having that safe environment to learn and get support from was truly such a big help and I would highly recommend anyone seeking more therapeutic support. It was wonderful getting to hear other people’s stories and through that, coming to know I am not alone. Also, it’s great to be able to work as a team and problem solve! Thanks again to Stephanie and everyone on her team who made me feel like I was important and that I mattered and would not be broken forever. You guys and everyone in the group was a huge part of my healing journey."

(Stephanie Jacobs, In-Person Adult IOP)“I joined the Adult Mental Health Intensive Outpatient Program and it was life changing. I was going through an extremely rough patch in my life; I wasn't eating, leaving the house, or living my life. When I joined the group, I was very very nervous. I don't do well in groups or going out of my comfort zone, but little did I know, that was exactly what I need. Stephanie made sure we knew the confidentiality rules and that group was a safe place. It was really special to see I wasn't alone and that so many other people of all ages were going through or have gone through the same things I was and have gone through in the past. The 8 weeks I spent going through ways to help me cope with the anxieties of every day life were truly life changing. I would highly recommend taking the jump and stepping out of your comfort zone to do this program. The difference I have seen in my life 6 months after finishing the program and even during is crazy. I've learned to not let the anxiety win and how to cope using DBT skills that we learned. Please don't hesitate to join group, I promise you won't regret it. I'm so thankful for Stephanie for creating this group and giving me a safe place to "feel my feels".”

(Erin Pawlak, Stephanie Jacobs, Intake Staff, Billing Staff and Website Manager) From the billing and administrative staff to the counselors, The Behavioral Wellness Group is a well-organized, clinically experienced and compassionate group! I highly recommend licensed professional counselors, Erin Pawlak and Stephanie Jacobs! They are kind, compassionate, attentive and skilled. The IOP programs are amazing options for adolescents and adults and one the only or few of their kind in the Bluffton, SC area. Another positive to the group is that they are in network with many different insurance companies and their billing practices are transparent and seamless unlike so many other groups in the area, they also offer other billing options such as Care Credit or billing installment plans if necessary. Phone calls and emails are answered promptly, and you will never feel alone and lost here! Their website is also well maintained and informative with detailed descriptions of programs offered and clinician photos and bio."
